POSITION: Attendance Clerk
DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT: The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 1,000 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 600 at the middle school level and approximately 850 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth. Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82nd percentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News. Our elementary schools are both one-to-one technology are each near the 83rd percentile in State rankings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a business office setting. Experience with MiStar scheduling, attendance, reporting, grade reporting, and student information administration preferred. Strong written, verbal and communication skills. High degree of skill and efficiency in typing, filing and general business office functions. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and under pressure. Highly organized and able to prioritize workload, along with strong problem solving skills. Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a confidential manner. Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with staff, students and the public. Knowledge and experience in the use of personal computers and word processing equipment. Working knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft applications. Presents a professional and courteous image that represents the District in a positive manner. Ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, and District staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists in answering the telephone and acting as receptionist in greeting parents, students, and visitors, ensuring that they receive appropriate information. Maintains knowledge of District policies and procedures regarding attendance. Maintains knowledge of school policies and procedures. Establishes a daily attendance list, calls parents regarding student absences and enters this information on the MiStar database. Attends to ill/injured children and dispenses medication to students as requested. Assist in creating and maintaining a filing system to organize all areas of the attendance office.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
WORKDAY/WEEK: Monday-Friday, 4 Hours Per Day, 10:30am to 2:30pm
COMPENSATION: Per the BESPA Master Agreement
