Administrative Assistant, Harvey County Special Education Cooperative
Qualifications: Experience as an administrative assistant preferred. Effective communication skills (written and oral). Knowledge and experience in using a computer with word processing and spreadsheets. Data entry skills. Typing skills. Demonstrated filing skills. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for all assigned responsibilities.
Reports To: Director of Harvey County Special Education Cooperative (HCSEC)
Job Goal: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the office of HCSEC so that the Cooperative's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. To complete the detail and written work relating to the operations of HCSEC and to coordinate other matters essential to the efficiency of the office.
Performance Responsibilities:
Prepares various types of correspondence, including emails, reports, notices, and recommendations.
Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed, and puts it into usable form.
Orders and distributes materials and supplies to employees of HCSEC.
Maintains a regular filing system, as well as a set of locked confidential files, and processes incoming correspondence as instructed.
Monitors expenditures including travel, professional development registrations and supplies.
Communicates with other district office departments as needed (i.e., payroll, personnel, business office).
Places and receives telephone calls and records messages.
Orders and maintains office supplies as needed.
Maintains a schedule of appointments and makes arrangements for conferences and interviews.
Welcomes visitors and arranges for their comfort, and screens unexpected callers in accordance with predetermined policy.
Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Terms of Employment: Twelve month position. Salary to be established by the board of education.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of support personnel.

Physical Requirements of the Job:
Very rarely requires physical exertion beyond walking or climbing stairs. Requires prolonged standing and walking. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects or materials. Driving skills and physical ability required to drive vehicle.
