About The Role
This role will assist all parts of the School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. This position will include, but not be limited to: assisting with operations, coordinating events, assisting with events, maintaining reservations for the restaurant, maintaining communication and organization with outside companies, and conducting tours of the programs and facilities, taking minutes at meetings, writing menus, and maintaining the Pineapple post.

Major Responsibilities

Use of Canva, Microsoft Office and other software related to event planning and marketing

Apply problem-solving skills when working with part-time staff, full-time faculty and students

Collaborate with the operations, faculty and other departments

Possess strong people skills and positive communication

Ability to meet deadlines and assist others

The following is not an exhaustive list. Other tasks, responsibilities and duties associated with the position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of FERPA and other regulatory requirements.

Education And Experience

Associate degree or higher. Preferred in a hospitality-related field

Technical Skills
Required Skills and Competencies:

Proficient with computer skills, Microsoft Office, Canva and Work Zone.

Knowledgeable in hospitality, event setup, banquet setup, and guest etiquette

Ability to be standing, pushing, pulling, and squatting for more than 5 hours a day, and the ability to be able to lift 25lbs or more of food products and dry goods

Possesses professional hospitality industry and food service experience

Valid ServSafe Manager Certification

Valid certifications for serving alcohol

Analytical Skills

Ability to analyze recipes and create food descriptions for menus.

Communication Skills

Strong skills in verbal and written communication, with the ability to articulate tasks to internal and external guests

Possesses strong communication skills with instructors, chair, operations department, and other Ivy Tech departments.

Possess strong and articulate communication skills

Problem Solving

Ability to use critical thinking skills when dealing with faculty, staff, and other departments

Ability to solve problems that may arise with events

Possesses skills in problem-solving when dealing with clients' internal and external

Possesses strong organizational skills

Teamwork

Experience in a professional full-time hospitality industry role, collaborating, training, delegating, and working with a team of employees

Proven experience in supporting diversity among faculty, staff, students, and clients

Ability to work a flexible schedule of possibly different days and shifts throughout the week and weekend events

Project Management

Ability to manage to create and manage BEOs and meetings to ensure all faculty and staff are aware of events

Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and events at one time

Preferred Additional Skills

Minimum 2 years industry experience in a professional kitchen

Minimum 1 year of experience with event planning

Minimum 1 year experience with marketing
