If you are friendly, have a welcoming personality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask. This could be the position for you. You should also be organized and able to stay calm under pressure. A host should be cheerful and love people, charming and sincere, even when they might not be feeling that way. You need to be able to speak clearly and collectedly, never rushing a conversation.

A restaurant host's duties include:

• Greeting guests, seating them, and managing reservations
• Answering phones
• Providing menus, and helping ensure guests have a positive dining experience
• Greeting and welcoming guests to the restaurant, providing a warm and friendly greeting
• Answering questions about the restaurant and menu
• Maintaining a clean reception area
• Catering to guests who require extra attention, and assisting wait staff as needed
