Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma/GED.
Two (2) years of experience in computer use.
Licenses or Certifications:
Cape Coral Police Department 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator training program certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
FCIC/NCIC certificate within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitors police and fire channels, receives and evaluates calls for police and fire service, and properly dispatches calls for emergency and non-emergency situations.
Acknowledges and records status of all units transmitting by frequency, and checks the status of all traffic stops in reference to officer safety.
Monitors Teletype and incoming FAX messages as they are received and enters data received.
Maintains communications with unit personnel in the field, and provides information to assist, i.e., criminal histories, driver's license status, stolen vehicles, wanted persons.
Researches information for unit personnel as requested.
Monitors security cameras and controlled access areas of building and fire alarms.
Perform other related duties as required.
