Training & Engagement Coordinator
Davidson College Dining is seeking a motivated and organized Training & Engagement Coordinator to support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and engagement of Dining Services team. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and service-focused workplace culture while ensuring that Dining team members are effectively hired, trained, and supported.
The Training & Engagement Coordinator works closely with Dining managers and Human Resources to support hiring processes, coordinate orientation programs, maintain training systems, and develop initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and retention. This position also helps ensure that Dining employees are well prepared to deliver excellent service to the campus community.
Key Responsibilities
Support recruitment strategies and candidate pipelines for both student and staff positions within Dining Services.
Coordinate job postings, review applications, and assist managers with applicant screening and interview scheduling.
Assist managers and HR with hiring processes, reference checks, and candidate communication.
Monitor staffing levels across dining units and support workforce planning efforts.
Track and report recruitment metrics and hiring trends to Dining leadership.
Coordinate and facilitate new employee orientation for Dining Services team members.
Ensure onboarding documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with College policies and HR requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires during their onboarding period.
Maintain onboarding materials, schedules, and communications.
Partner with managers to ensure a strong and welcoming first-week experience for new employees.
Assist associates with installing and maintaining Davidson College applications on their personal phones
Develop, coordinate, and track required training programs for Dining Services employees.
Maintain training compliance records related to food safety, workplace safety, and operational standards.
Provide managers with training tools, resources, and job aids to support staff development.
Identify training gaps and collaborate with leadership to improve training programs.
Support cross-training initiatives to strengthen operational flexibility across dining units.
Support employee engagement initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.
Coordinate employee recognition and appreciation programs.
Support student employee engagement initiatives to strengthen retention and workplace satisfaction.
Assist with team-building events, appreciation activities, and departmental communications.
Monitor engagement and retention trends and share insights with Dining leadership.
Maintain accurate hiring, onboarding, and training records.
Ensure compliance with College policies, HR procedures, and food safety training requirements.
Assist with departmental policy communications and updates.
Participate in Dining Services meetings and collaborate with campus partners as needed.
Support special projects, operational improvements, and departmental initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Dining Services.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
One to three years of experience in recruitment, training, HR support, hospitality, or higher education.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and roles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in college dining, hospitality, or retail food service environments.
Experience working with student associates.
Knowledge of ServSafe or food safety training programs.
Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS, or Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Fluency in English and Spanish
