Administrative Assistant (Part-time)

Examples of Duties

Receives all public funds and money payable to the City, including all taxes, licenses, fines, utility payments, inter government revenues and special assessments, and prepares deposits.
Provides a receipt to every person paying money to the City, including the date of payment and the account in which payment is being received.
Maintains and updates all documentation for money received.
Balances cash drawers on a daily basis.
Collects and processes tax and utility payments.
Provides clerical support, updates and maintains databases and other files.
Answers internal and external phone calls courteously and professionally.
Greets incoming customers and provides excellent customer service.
Performs general receptionist duties.
Addresses public and professional inquiries.
Education & Experience

Requires High School diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Flexibility to work during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday - Friday (and as needed; 28 hours maximum per work week).
General knowledge of administrative practices, procedures, and equipment.
General knowledge of and experience with computers.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, with frequent interruptions while remaining calm, organized and accurate; and be highly professional.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Strong work ethic to include a positive attitude, attendance and accountability.
Ability to exercise "confidentiality" in the day-to-day activities of the workplace.
Ability to accept direction and assignments from internal staff at all levels.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

The work is generally in an office environment. Typically, the employee may sit to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, stooping, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require safety precautions. Use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals are minimally required.
