Senior Design Drafter

Position: Design Drafter II.

Location: Ogden, UT. Full time onsite.

This role reports to the Engineer Design Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Manage drafting/design/engineering request workload and coordinate requests to ensure timely completion and level loading. Perform lead role for engineering support to Technical Services

Prepare conceptual/preliminary design of equipment or systems under the guidance of a Westinghouse engineer.

Perform basic design calculations to produce conceptual and preliminary designs. Select hardware and software to meet functional requirements. Perform inspection and verification of field conditions during design.

Perform high-level project controls (scope, cost, estimate, and schedule) for assigned projects under the guidance of a Technical Services engineer or project manager.

Create reports for communicating status of project controls and perform the role of team member for larger projects.

Create installation instructions, coordinate, and interface with contractors, and provide technical and project oversight for installation activities.

Create documents and perform activities for Configuration Control to implement projects.

Help train operations and maintenance personnel during project implementation.

Perform computer, measuring devices and instrumentation support for Capital projects.

Prepare requirement documents for purchasing and fabricating equipment and systems under the guidance of WEC engineer or project manager.

Evaluate vendors for sourcing materials and equipment.

Create requests for quotes and purchase requests to purchase materials and equipment. Identify, set‑up and acquire spare parts for Capital projects.

Perform CAD drafting of mechanical and electrical designs under the direction of a WEC engineer. Comply with facility specifications and Technical Services engineering and drafting procedures. Software subject matter expert (SME) for multiple engineering tools i.e. ENOVIA, SharePoint, Plotter and other hardware tool troubleshooting and support.

Train new engineers/technicians to include Enovia(Matrix), engineering procedures and specifications.

Issue and activity ownership and support to management and engineering.

Initiate, perform design role, and complete projects.

Well‑versed in industry standard best safety practices i.e. INPO, 6S along with ANSI, IBC, AISC.

Perform full support role to WEC safety leads in all areas.

Qualifications

High School diploma plus two years technical school training in mechanical or electrical engineering technology or equivalent experience.

8–15 years.

CAD certifications.

2‑year technical degree or equivalent.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to $55,379 to $72,008 per year.
