Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Deployment Engineer to deliver capable unmanned aerial systems (UAS). You will be responsible for executing flight tests for R&D and quality assurance, integrating systems at client site deployments, performing training on systems, and providing front‑line support for UAS troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in flight test engineering, practical experience with ArduCopter‑based platforms, and proven ability to manage test operations. This position demands a blend of technical expertise, analytical problem‑solving, operational precision, and the ability to take charge and work independently with a strong sense of responsibility.
Candidates should be prepared for variable work hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, depending on deployment schedules and testing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Deploy systems and ensure customer success
Deliver hands‑on training and provide ongoing technical and operational support for our systems and users
Develop training materials, conduct sessions (both in‑person and virtual), and troubleshoot user issues with clarity and patience
System Integration & Configuration
Configure and tune ArduCopter parameters for various airframes
Integrate autopilot hardware, sensors, telemetry, and ground control stations
Perform troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of system anomalies
Flight Test Planning & Execution
Develop comprehensive flight test plans, test cards, and risk assessments
Conduct ground and flight tests on UAS to validate performance, safety, and reliability
Operate as pilot, payload operator, or safety observer during test missions
Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. Federal Aviation Administration)
Data Collection & Analysis
Collect and analyze flight data to assess system performance and identify issues
Document and report test results, including post‑flight debriefs and technical reports
Recommend design or software modifications based on test outcomes
Project Management
Communicate progress, risks, and results to stakeholders and leadership
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in flight testing or UAS development
Proficiency with ArduCopter, including parameter tuning, mission planning, and log analysis
Hands‑on experience with UAS assembly, integration, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of aviation regulations and airspace procedures
Strong data analysis and technical reporting skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work safely in dynamic field environments and coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams
Certification as a Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Remote Pilot
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with other autopilot frameworks (e.g. PX4, DJI Ground Control)
Experience using telemetry and ground control systems such as Mission Planner or QGroundControl
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
