MEP Design Engineer

Responsibilities

Complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.

Collect and assemble data, develop bids and generate systems and bid analysis.

Learn how to develop budgetary M\/E estimates using automated estimating systems based on program and schematic design information.

Assist in reviewing mechanical and electrical options, completing systems analysis, recommending best systems for projects and providing value‑engineering suggestions.

Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process.

Develop sequencing requirements of various systems and provide solutions to meet schedule requirements; provide scheduling input during projects.

Review design documents, identify potential quality problems, and help develop quality‑control programs.

Perform job inspections at various project stages to ensure specifications and expectations are met and work is completed in a quality manner.

Develop pre‑functional checklists and functional testing procedures; verify contractor performance of functional tests.

Review and approve shop drawings prior to submission to design team.

Generate and issue the Commissioning Plan for approval to the appropriate parties; verify deficiencies are corrected and submit commissioning documentation to owners.

Provide mentoring to less experienced co‑workers and create M\/E tools and innovative solutions to continuously improve processes and work products.

Lead, support and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn, ensuring positive implementation of the company’s non‑discrimination policy.

Possess the ability to perform work accurately, completely and in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Requirements

Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate) and basic JE Dunn construction M\/E tools and software.

Knowledge of means and methods of construction management and ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.

Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering or related field (Required); equivalent relevant experience considered.

5+ years construction and/or engineering experience (Preferred).

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
