Overview
Seeking a Roadway Design Engineer (PE) to support the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and transportation projects. This role focuses on roadway geometry, drainage, and grading design while contributing to high-quality infrastructure solutions that prioritize safety and efficiency.
This position includes opportunities for project management, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Lead and/or support roadway projects through the full lifecycle, including:
Project kickoff and planning
Construction support
Project closeout
Horizontal and vertical alignments
Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
Manage project scope, schedule, and budget
Coordinate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams
Assist with project proposals, interviews, and presentations
Design & Technical Execution
Utilize roadway design software such as:
OpenRoads
MicroStation
Civil 3D
Conduct quality control reviews of engineering deliverables
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations
Provide construction phase support, including:
Responding to RFIs
Reviewing submittals
Coordinating with contractors
Stay current with industry standards and technologies
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
Provide technical guidance and support
Collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas and/or Oklahoma (or ability to obtain)
5–10+ years of roadway or transportation design experience
Strong experience with:
Drainage and grading principles
Engineering design software (OpenRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D)
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with transportation agency projects (state, municipal, or public sector)
Experience working with transportation departments or municipal clients
Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff
