
Engineering Manager – MEP/Mechanical Design

Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager (PE) to lead its mechanical engineering department. This leader will oversee full‑cycle mechanical/MEP design projects, ensure technical accuracy and quality, develop engineering standards, and mentor a team of engineers and designers. The ideal candidate brings strong HVAC, piping, and plumbing expertise, proven people leadership, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities: Engineering Leadership & Technical Oversight Provide technical guidance on HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
Oversee all engineering and design work produced by the mechanical/MEP team.
Lead full‑cycle design efforts, including conceptual layouts, detailed engineering, and construction‑ready documents.
Ensure accuracy, code compliance, and quality across all engineering deliverables.
Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards, processes, and QA/QC procedures.
Project & Resource Management Coordinate engineering staff schedules with project managers.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, varying in size and complexity.
Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for external consultants, vendors, and project partners.
Participate in client design meetings, pre‑construction discussions, and post‑construction reviews.
Team Development & Mentorship Lead, mentor, and develop engineering staff.
Provide training on tools, standards, and best practices.
Conduct performance evaluations and support professional growth.
Tools & Technology Support BIM standards and clash‑detection processes.
Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks for design review, coordination, and model‑based workflows.
Qualifications (Must-Haves) Ability to pass pre‑employment screening.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
Valid driver's license meeting company requirements.
5+ years of supervisory or engineering management experience.
7+ years of mechanical/MEP engineering experience (HVAC, piping, plumbing)
Experience leading full‑cycle design projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related field.
Preferred Skills: Experience in commercial or industrial MEP design.
Prior leadership in a mid‑sized engineering or design‑build environment.
Demonstrated success managing engineering standards, QA/QC, and staff development.
