Based in Tennessee , you’ll have the opportunity to support and deliver exciting, large‑scale transportation infrastructure projects across the state. You’ll work on impactful projects for TDOT and local Tennessee municipalities, interpreting project challenges and recommending best practices along the way. You will apply your highway and roadway design expertise to solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions; and use your technical knowledge to develop unique, high‑quality designs.

You’ll collaborate with some of the industry’s most talented engineers and project managers, gain experience working directly with our clients, and contribute to transportation improvements that shape how communities move and grow. What You’ll Do

Perform roadway and highway geometric design using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer

Support the development of roadway plans, traffic control plans, and design‑related calculations

Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and clients

Review construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure accuracy and quality

Assist in guiding interns and junior engineers, contributing to technical problem‑solving and team growth

Identify design challenges and develop innovative, practical solutions

Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination activities across all project phases

Here’s what you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

Minimum of 4 years of experience in infrastructure and highway design

Proficiency in MicroStation including OpenRoads Designer

Demonstrated ability to coordinate all phases of a project

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain PE registration in Tennessee

Ideally, you’ll also have

DOT experience (other DOT experience is also acceptable), as well as county and municipal project experience within Tennessee

6 or more years of experience with multi‑discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects

Experience assembling and reviewing construction drawings and specifications

Strong analytical, conceptual, organizational, communication, and time‑management skills

Experience mentoring interns and junior staff

Desire to grow into project management or task leadership roles

Active engagement in professional organizations

The base salary range for this position is $78,600.00 to $116,100.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
