Legal Assistant 1 – Pennsylvania Governor's Office of General Counsel
Support the Office of Chief Counsel for the Pennsylvania State Police and provide legal services to the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement. Work in the Pittsburgh office to help enforce the liquor code and crimes code at licensed businesses across Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support, including managing new case intakes, scanning and uploading documentation, and maintaining accurate status updates in spreadsheets and contact lists.

Prepare formal correspondence and legal documents for attorney review, coordinate witness instructions for hearings conducted via Microsoft Teams, and maintain organized filing systems.

Assist Pittsburgh staff and PSP headquarters staff in Harrisburg with discovery, editing pre‑trial and post‑trial motions, and preparing exhibits and affidavits.

Manage office communications through telephone, mail, and email; verify licensing data using Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board online systems.

Navigate firearms case procedural requirements and ensure adherence to local court rules to support successful litigation and efficient office operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.

Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Telework up to two days per week after a six‑month probationary period, subject to approval and requirements for a secure high‑speed internet connection.

Location: Pittsburgh office (telework approved from approved Pennsylvania locations).

Qualifications

At least three (3) years of responsible clerical, enforcement, or investigative work; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Must obtain a bachelor’s degree on or before June 30 2026.

Ability to perform essential job functions.

Must pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.

Preferred: Experience in a legal environment.
