Critical Facilities Technician

Optomi, in partnership with an industry leading financial organization, are in search for a Critical Facilities Technician to work on site in their Raleigh, NC datacenter, supporting the 1st shift hours listed below. This candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation and reliability of all critical infrastructure systems within the Bank’s data centers. This includes the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, fire, and life safety systems to support optimal uptime and data center performance. The technician will respond to emergencies, support vendor activity, and execute preventative maintenance schedules while adhering to strict operational procedures and safety standards.
Schedule
1st Shift: 07:00am – 4:00pm
Need to be open to working 3rd shift in the future
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment operates at better than 99.99% uptime within assigned data center and critical admin facilities.
Perform hands‑on preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response on mission‑critical equipment.
Monitor and oversee onsite third‑party vendors under the direction of the Senior Critical Facility Technician.
Assist with small project management from conception to completion, including delivering on key milestones and documenting results.
Maintain daily communication with internal support groups including Engineering, IT, and Security.
Support troubleshooting and operations of equipment including switchgear, UPS, PDU, AHU, chillers, cooling towers, generators, VFDs, and building automation/SCADA systems.
Execute site and equipment‑specific training exercises.
Take ownership of infrastructure and ensure proper work quality from all vendors.
Requirements & Qualifications
Strong foundational knowledge of HVAC, UPS systems, backup generators, and electrical/switchgear systems
Electrical experience with large switchgear and data center electrical systems (5 Years)
HVAC experience with critical cooling systems including Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, Pumps, and VFDs within data centers and large facilities (5 Years)
Ability to read and interpret facility prints for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, controls, and fire/life safety systems (5 Years)
