Job Overview
Data Center Engineering Technician – Amazon Data Services, Inc.
Maintain mission‑critical infrastructure, ensuring 99.999% uptime for AWS data centers, including stand‑by diesel generators, three‑phase electrical systems, UPSs, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries, CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers, pumps, motors and building automation equipment.
Work in a GovCloud region (PDX) with compliance for U.S. citizen access. Relocation stipend offered for eligible candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS).
Assist troubleshooting of facility and rack‑level events within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Perform rack installs and decommissioning within SLAs.
Execute preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshoot, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
Produce technical documentation to support change management.
Manage daily work requests, track resolution, and lead projects from conception to completion.
Provide on‑site support of contractors, sub‑contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.
Work shifts up to 12 hours, rotating as necessary; some locations have on‑call rotations.
Possibly support multiple locations or sites.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in conditions with reasonable accommodations.
Regularly lift up to 39 lbs independently or participate in group lifts of 40+ lbs.
Maintain balance and perform tasks on ladders.
Regularly walk, use hands, reach, kneel, crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects.
Work in an environment requiring ear protection.
Travel to or commute between data center locations as required (over 50 miles or less). Temporary work at alternative sites during training periods may be needed.

Travel frequency varies based on business needs and site operational status.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of Microsoft Office experience.
2+ years of electrical and mechanical experience.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a data center or mission‑critical facility (e.g., hospital, military, public safety).
Associate or higher education in a related field.
Experience with reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

This role is paid hourly in the USA, OR, locations listed below:
• Boardman: $37.00 – $65.00 USD hourly
• Hermiston: $37.00 – $65.00 USD hourly
• Umatilla: $37.00 – $65.00 USD hourly
