Guardian Engineering Enterprises, LLC is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in either our Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, or Brooklyn, NY office.
This role offers a hybrid work schedule , blending in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.
The successful candidate will lead and execute structural engineering design work focused on AI infrastructure, data centers, mission-critical facilities, and industrial structures.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license and 8+ years of relevant experience are required.
Primary Responsibilities Lead comprehensive design and analysis of structural systems for AI infrastructure and data centers, including structural framing, foundations, equipment supports, and building enclosures for mission-critical facilities.

Conduct detailed structural assessments of data center and industrial structures, including capacity evaluations, seismic analyses, equipment loading studies, and structural integrity assessments.

Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing analysis findings, recommendations, and cost estimates for improvements, retrofits, and new construction.

Develop construction documents and specifications for structural systems in alignment with applicable codes ( IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7 ) and client requirements.

Design and specify structural systems for complex facilities, including steel and concrete framing, heavy equipment foundations, raised floor systems, and roof structures optimized for high-density computing environments.

Lead foundation design including deep foundations, mat foundations, and other specialized systems for mission-critical infrastructure.

Ensure compliance with structural codes, seismic regulations, and design standards while maintaining focus on reliability and life safety.

Contribute to value engineering by analyzing system options, materials, and lifecycle costs to enhance performance and efficiency.

Support procurement activities including bid documentation, addenda development, and contractor inquiries.

Review submittals and RFIs during construction to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.

Conduct field observations and QA inspections during construction, documenting progress for steel erection, concrete placement, and foundation activities.

Lead construction administration efforts including testing coordination, verification of design parameters, and phasing oversight to maintain operational continuity.

Support client relationships through effective communication, mentor junior engineers, and manage discipline-specific man-hour estimates and schedules for structural projects.

Experience & Skill Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred) with 8+ years of experience in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facility design.

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Proven expertise in structural design, assessment, and construction oversight for complex and mission-critical facilities.

Strong client-facing communication skills and proficiency in software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural System, and STAAD.Pro.

Expertise in data center structural design , including heavy equipment loading, raised floors, vibration isolation, and high-density computing environments.

Proficiency in structural design for technology infrastructure , including rack supports, cable trays, anchorage, and seismic design requirements.

Strong knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundation, and seismic design principles.

Advanced understanding of finite element modeling and complex system analysis for mission-critical applications.

Proven ability to solve complex engineering challenges and guide teams through decision-making processes.

Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience leading multidisciplinary teams , mentoring junior engineers, and fostering collaborative environments.

Excellent reporting, documentation, and presentation skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills to meet aggressive project schedules while maintaining quality standards.
