Overview

The Centralized Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries, appointments and procedures at the request of physicians and customers. Responsible for transcribing and scanning all orders and H&P's into the electronic medical record. Responsible for maintaining scheduling related work queues. Responsible for "schegistration" of patients, which includes verification of insurance benefits & eligibility. Responsible for initiating medical necessity checking on surgeries, appointments and/or procedures. Assures the specific needs of department, physician and customers are met. Providing assistance and direction to physicians, their staff and other hospital personnel with whatever needs they may have. Maintains the master physician listing for use by the medical center. Working closely with departments on new procedures and requirements to ensure compliance and proper reimbursement. Lives the Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy of the department and Saint Francis Medical Center. Constantly works with and maintains restricted or confidential information from many sources within the medical center. Any and all duties as assigned by the Assistant Manager, Manager and/or Director.

Responsibilities

Schedule surgeries, appointments and procedures as requested by physicians and customers.

Transcribe and scan orders and H&Ps into the electronic medical record.

Maintain scheduling-related work queues.

Verify insurance benefits and eligibility (schegistration).

Initiate medical necessity checks for surgeries, appointments and procedures.

Support department, physician, and customer needs; provide assistance and direction to physicians, staff, and hospital personnel.

Maintain the master physician listing used by the medical center.

Collaborate with departments on new procedures and requirements to ensure compliance and proper reimbursement.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Manager, Manager and/or Director.

Qualifications

One year of experience in a medical environment with scheduling duties preferred.

Medical terminology knowledge or prior Administrative Partner experience.

Professional and courteous manners in dealing with customers.

Appropriate and timely independent judgment.

Computer experience required.

Job Details
Type: Full Time (80 hours per 2 week pay period, with benefits)

Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm

Opportunity for remote work after 6 months of on-site training

Compensation and Benefits
Minimum hourly rate: $15.00/hour
