Summary
The IS Tech II is responsible for maintaining high availability, reliability, and performance of all IS-supported file servers and workstations. This role supports daily operations across the organization by ensuring technical systems run efficiently, issues are resolved promptly, and technology standards are consistently applied.
The Position Encompasses Five Key Areas Of Responsibility
LAN and desktop administration
Hardware, software, peripheral installation, configuration, and moves/adds/changes
E-Mail system administration
Small project support and problem resolution
Technical documentation
The IS Tech II will partner with management and department staff to support informed Information System decisions and provide consultative guidance. Additional duties include responding quickly to help desk requests, conducting preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned outages, and implementing file server/workstation standards established by the IS Department.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
High School diploma, required
Two (2) year Associate degree or three (3) years equivalent education or work experience in an Information Technology healthcare area
Related college coursework may substitute for some of the experience listed above
Strong technical understanding of enterprise networking, distributed computing (LAN administration and PC systems), and intranet/internet technology
Creative thinking and excellent problem-solving skills are required
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Conflict Management skills
Demonstrate teamwork skills
Ability to work flexible hours and schedules, work under pressure, and multi-task
Time Management and proper follow-up skills
Base knowledge of current PC software packages and systems: Microsoft Office suites, Invision, and Kronos.
NT Server, Server 2000, Server 2003
E-Mail System, Exchange, GroupWise, or Lotus Notes
Experience and/or certification(s) in Microsoft desktop operating systems
95/98/NT/2000/XP help desk, or project tracking tools, and/or web-based documentation tools is a significant plus
Base knowledge of Call Pilot phone system, exposure to a paging system
Required Length And Type Of Experience
Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in an Information Systems environment to include extensive hands‑on support of a mid‑size (100‑700‑node) network. Experience should include LAN Administration and hands‑on workstation/server troubleshooting.
Demonstrated knowledge of industry standard network protocols including SNA, DECNET, TCP/IP, NETBOIS, and IPX/SPX is required.
Experience should also include personal computer and file server architecture and interface components (i.e. configuration, fault isolation, memory management, device drivers, and operating systems).
Exposure to a PBX call system may also be required. Paging system knowledge could be required.

Manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and mouse
Ability to capture and verbally document information clearly
Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the support needs of the organization

Required to frequently move, unbox, re‑box PC’s, 17‑inch monitors, printers, and peripherals (10‑50 lbs.) via the use of a cart or dolly
May occasionally be required to transport equipment in your personal vehicle
