Job Description
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician II to support our Louisiana Region in Baton Rouge.
Job Overview
Under close supervision, perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Typically work in one or more maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine necessary repair and maintenance work to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Utilize blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. Provide support, development, and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and repair the organization’s facilities and properties, including routine tasks and responsibilities. Paint structures and equipment as needed.
Install and correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.
Operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps, and related mechanical equipment. Repair appliances and equipment.
Move and store furniture and equipment as required.
Estimate time and material costs for various projects and requisition new supplies and equipment.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School or equivalent required. A trade license may be required.
Experience: 1 year of related experience preferred, including skills in painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
Skills & Abilities: Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record. Basic writing, communication, and computer skills. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: Potential to drive to other locations.
Combination of education and experience must meet minimum years; management experience cannot be substituted.
Physical Requirements
Regularly use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach, talk, or hear.
Regularly lift or move objects 10–50 lbs frequently; lift objects over 100 lbs with assistance or a powered industrial truck.
Frequently push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on flat flooring or ramps.
Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally sit and climb or balance.
Require close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and ability to adjust focus.
Use various hand and power tools and chemicals/solvents. May need to climb ladders for top-level selection.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
Experience leading volunteers or paid staff.
Bilingual in any language.
