Job Overview
We Never Walk Alone. The Classification Department accurately assesses and classifies inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors, ensuring appropriate housing and program placement. The goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Job Duties

Be the backbone of the Classification Department by preparing correspondence, memorandums, and typing essential forms and documents.

Maintain inmate files, conduct audits on new inmates, and prepare necessary forms in the Inmate Records area.

Input data into the CDC database, retrieve and print information, and maintain classification documentation.

Receive, date stamp, sort, and distribute mail; handle, copy, scan, and fax documents.

Provide customer service by answering phone calls professionally, assisting inmate families, and undertaking special projects and other clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Background Screening Requirement
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all applicants to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before employment begins.
