Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant

Colorado Mesa, located in Grand Junction, Colo., is currently seeking applicants for a Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant position. CMU is a proud member of the NCAA and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and sponsors 26 varsity sports that compete at the NCAA Division II level.

This is a two-year commitment and runs for 10 months a year (Aug.-May). We do have opportunities on campus for compensation during the month of June.

The job begins August 1, 2026.

Preferred Qualifications

Athletic Communications/Sports Information experience either as a student worker, graduate assistant, or intern.

Background in StatCrew, Presto, NCAA LiveStats, Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Premier is a bonus.

Responsibilities

Assist in the day‑to‑day operation of the Athletic Communications office. This includes, but is not limited to, writing press releases, game recaps, and feature stories for assigned sports.

Serve as the primary contact for several of Colorado Mesa’s NCAA Division II programs while aiding in the coverage of other in‑season teams.

Conduct all aspects of pre‑game, in‑game, and post‑game coverage for assigned home contests.

Promoting Colorado Mesa athletics through social media including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Interact with local and national media outlets. Help coaches and student‑athletes schedule and conduct interviews.

Scoring games using StatCrew, Presto, and NCAA LiveStats.

Producing game notes, fliers and game previews.

Use a content management system to update the athletics website.

Working on evenings and weekends will be required.
