Primary Function
The GA will be responsible for assisting the Director of Athletic Communications in the daily operations and overall administration of the athletic communications department. Required Qualifications
Degree in marketing, communications, or related field. Previous experience working in an athletic communications department or related field.
Education
Bachelor’s degree
Essential Duties
Assist in the day‑to‑day operations of the Athletic Communications Office for all varsity sports
Write, edit, and publish game recaps, press releases, and feature stories in official department style
Compile and verify game statistics using NCAA‑approved software (StatCrew, Genius, PrestoSports, etc.)
Serve as primary or secondary contact for assigned sports programs
Manage live statistics and scoring for home contests across multiple sports
Coordinate game‑day operations, including setup and breakdown of press areas and stat crews
Maintain and update team rosters, schedules, and historical records on the athletics website
Design and publish social media content, including graphics, captions, and in‑game updates
Capture and edit photos and short‑form video content for digital and social platforms
Assist with media relations, including credentialing, press box management, and interview coordination
Produce game notes, match programs, and other pregame materials
Support live streaming operations, including camera work, graphics, and broadcast setup
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all published statistics and content
Assist in promoting student‑athlete awards, milestones, and conference honors
Archive statistics, photos, and historical materials for long‑term record keeping
Collaborate with coaches, administrators, and student‑workers to support communication needs
Supervise and train student workers in statistics, operations, and media coverage
Travel as needed with assigned teams to provide communications coverage
Uphold NCAA, conference (PAC), and institutional policies and branding standards
Special Challenges and Environment
Frequent nights and weekends; frequent work outdoors, often in adverse weather conditions; must be able to lift at least 25 pounds; must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.
