As a Buyer II, you will be a critical pillar of the Firefly Purchasing Team. Step up, contribute meaningfully, and shape the future with us.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Source and procure standard and custom components and assemblies, including those based on engineering drawings and technical specifications, to support engineering, production, and program requirements.
Identify commercially available products that meet technical specifications, cost targets, and delivery schedules.
Negotiate pricing and implement cost‑saving initiatives with suppliers.
Issue purchase orders, track delivery status, and resolve invoicing discrepancies.
Develop and manage supplier and supply chain SOPs, including access criteria for launch sites and operational bases.
Perform comprehensive supplier evaluations, including strategic alignment, market position, capabilities, capacity, and risk assessment.
Build and maintain supplier relationships while monitoring performance and work progress.
Manage the approved vendor list (AVL) and ensure supplier compliance.
Oversee service providers supporting launch facilities.
Manage hazardous and explosive materials in compliance with regulations.
Drive process standardization and maintain accurate documentation.
Partner with Logistics to ensure regulatory compliance and on‑time material delivery.
Support pre‑flight operations, including expediting orders, shipments, and receiving.
Establish and maintain material stocking standards for flight‑critical items.
Collaborate with program teams to support customer payload handling and integration.
Prepare, issue, and evaluate RFx packages for both one‑time projects and ongoing goods and services.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, forecasts, and long‑term roadmaps.
QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of Supply Chain program purchasing experience
BA, BS in related field
Great project management and problem‑solving skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to back up conclusions with data
Time management skills, with the ability to separate the important tasks from the noise
Sense of urgency, with the ability to work well under pressure and complete tasks on time
Software operation and data entry skills
Possess a valid “Real ID” driver’s license, and clean driving record.
Ability to pass Air Force background checks
Physical stamina to perform regular duties, including lifting, pushing, or pulling at least 50 pounds; standing for long periods of time; crouching, bending, and reaching
Aerospace Industry experience
Military experience
Base Operations
Odoo ERP/MRP knowledge
Experience in R&D, prototyping and test environment – a plus
Experience in AS9100 environment
