We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and scheduling materials to support production and meet customer demand. You will play a critical role in ensuring on-time delivery, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining optimal inventory levels in a fast-paced, high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Source and procure materials aligned with production schedules and customer requirements
Manage open purchase orders to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery
Collaborate with suppliers to expedite deliveries, resolve shortages, and address delays
Communicate material status, risks, and recovery plans to internal teams and customers
Demonstrate strong knowledge of materials and supply sources to make cost-effective purchasing decisions that meet quality and delivery requirements, while supporting overall supply continuity
Proactively manage supplier performance by resolving material issues, expediting deliveries, and ensuring efficient processing of defective material returns
Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolescence
Identify and qualify alternative components when needed
Evaluate supplier performance and support supplier selection processes
Lead business reviews with key suppliers
Support updates to QMS procedures and work instructions
Process and manage defective material returns efficiently
Participate in Lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
2-5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in electronics manufacturing or a related environment
Strong knowledge of electronic components (ICs, passives, connectors, cables, PCBs)
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred)
Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
