We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer for a manufacturing facility in Jamestown, NY. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, supplies, and services necessary to support production operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining inventory levels, controlling costs, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and procure materials, components, and services to meet production schedules
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock
Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships
Process purchase orders and ensure accuracy of order details
Track and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery
Resolve issues related to shipping delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies
Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
Collaborate with internal departments including production, engineering, and accounting
Qualifications:
Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (manufacturing environment preferred)
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP/MRP systems
Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions
High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Office setting within a manufacturing facility
May require occasional interaction with production floor operations
