Job Description
Department: Commercial Sales / Business Development Reports To: Director of Commercial Contracting & Sales
Work Environment / Schedule
This is an in-office support role (Monday – Friday) in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and detail‑oriented environment. It requires regular computer work, online research, communication by email and phone, and coordination with internal team members. Strong organization, consistent follow‑through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
Position Summary
The Preconstruction & Business Development Coordinator is an entry‑level support role for someone who is organized, curious, coachable, and eager to learn. This position supports early‑stage opportunity development through company and project research, plan review assistance, takeoff support, outreach coordination, and follow‑up tracking for the commercial team.
This role helps the team stay organized, identify qualified opportunities, and build strong relationships in the market. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys research, detail work, organization, and supporting multiple moving pieces at once.
Key Responsibilities
Research target companies, industries, projects, and decision‑makers to identify potential opportunities
Build and maintain prospect lists across key markets, including general contractors, property managers, landscape architects, municipal contacts, and other strategic audiences
Use online tools, project lead platforms, and internal resources to identify opportunities that align with company capabilities
Review project specifications, drawings, plans, and bid documents to help identify relevant scopes of work and assist with plan takeoffs
Help organize project information, scope notes, and supporting documentation for internal review and project qualification
Prepare outreach messaging, follow‑up emails, and introductory communication for industry contacts
Support efforts to get on bid lists, approved vendor lists, and identify opportunities for lunch and learns or presentations
Track outreach activity, follow‑up timing, and next steps while maintaining organized records of research, contacts, and project activity
Support the creation and improvement of repeatable processes, templates, and research guides
Collaborate with internal sales and leadership team members to help surface opportunities and keep activity moving forward
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in administrative support, customer service, office coordination, research, project support, inside sales support, or a related role is preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional grammar, vocabulary, and tone
Comfortable learning new systems, terminology, and processes
Professional, responsive, and resourceful
Comfortable with email outreach, research, and contact tracking
A fast learner who takes initiative and is not afraid to ask questions
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and internet research tools
Experience with commercial construction, CRM tools, ConstructConnect, or takeoff software is a plus, but not required
Compensation
$20/hour, with opportunities for growth based on performance.
