
Communications Assistant

The University of Utah is now accepting applications in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for the position of Communications Assistant. This pre-professional internship is an 11‑month position with a salary of $20,000. Utah is a NCAA Division I school and a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Communications Assistant will serve as the primary media contact for multiple sports within the department as well as contributing to the overall storytelling and content strategies to promote a positive image for Utah Athletics under the direction of the Senior Associate A.D. for Strategic Communications.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, English, Liberal Arts, or a related area, or equivalency required. Experience in desktop publishing, word processing, computer networks and web page design preferred. Experience in public relations work or the print news media also preferred.
Demonstrated experience in athletics communications
Experience working with media to position sport programs for positive media coverage
Knowledge of and the ability to: Create engaging social media content, creatively produce and manage the design, layout, content and flow of multiple publications for multiple platforms (web, e‑mail, digital audio & video, digital photography, graphics, social media and print)
