Year-Round Finance-Intern, Tax

Job Description
This internship/co‑op program will allow the Intern to support the Sales and Use Tax Group and the Property/Business License Group within the Corporate Tax Department. The Intern will assist with sales‑tax and business‑license compliance, maintain permit documentation, provide support for real‑property tax budgeting, conduct basic tax research, and perform special projects.

Responsibilities

Sales tax / business license / permit compliance.

Maintaining permit documentation in Excel spreadsheets and permit images.

Answering notices from taxing jurisdictions and forwarding correspondence to appropriate teams.

Assisting in the preparation, check issuance, and mailing of business license registrations.

Communicating with store personnel and government agencies regarding licensing issues.

Preparing check requests and submitting them into Oracle.

Scanning and emailing sales tax/business licenses to stores.

Preparing quarterly gross receipt tax returns and business license applications.

Assisting the Tax Manager with real and personal property tax budgets for domestic plants and distribution centers; analyzing capital expenditure budgets to determine increased CAPEX impact on taxes.

Analyzing real‑property tax assessments for company‑operated stores and recommending properties for valuation appeals.

Maintaining product taxability conversion tables.

Supporting the tax research group in real‑estate partnership investment practice.

Conducting basic tax law research.

Assisting with special projects.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements

High School Diploma.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week throughout the school year, with flexibility for exams and school projects.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Word and Excel.

Preferred qualifications

Experience with online tax research platforms (Lexis, Checkpoint, or Bloomberg).

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, a criminal history review is required.
