Data Center Construction Manager – Amazon Data Services, Inc.
The Data Center Construction Manager will be part of a diverse engineering and operations team, responsible for overseeing the construction of Amazon data centers. The role includes managing construction projects from bidding through hand‑off, coordinating with contractors, ensuring quality, schedule, and cost controls, and leading constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead construction site daily activities and interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and close‑out phases.
Conduct negotiations with contractors and evaluate bids and proposals.
Create project scope and requests for proposals.
Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
Manage projects that increase the resiliency of data centers.
Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
Manage construction documents: submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
Ensure quality control of construction projects.
Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
Drive teams to troubleshoot and perform root‑cause failure analysis associated with equipment failures.
Lead within the team and with internal and external partners supporting the data center.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
Knowledge of critical data center equipment and engineering documentation.
Familiarity with building codes and regulations (Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA).
Experience with construction specifications and drawings across all domains.
Deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.
Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations.
