
Lead Maintenance Mechanic

Overview
Lilly is a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, and is building an advanced manufacturing facility for API production in Lebanon, IN. This role provides an opportunity to join the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site and build processes for GMP manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily maintenance activities with a safety‑first mindset, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Complete maintenance work in a timely manner and in accordance with GMP procedures.
Maintain documentation for all maintenance activities, including work order completion and post‑maintenance records.
Communicate critical equipment issues to all appropriate parties through oral and written methods.
Lead a team of mechanics and technicians in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to ensure continuous operation of production lines.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve equipment‑related issues.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
Provide training and guidance to team members to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reduce maintenance costs.
Support planning and scheduling, providing feedback to planners for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with the reliability team on equipment failures.
Volunteer and support committees or teams outside the primary role (e.g., safety, continuous improvement).
Common equipment responsibilities include:
Process pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, turbine) – troubleshooting, dismantling, reassembly.
Process columns – troubleshooting, disassembly, reassembly.
Equipment unique to the processes (centrifuges, homogenizers, vapor separators, agitators, gearboxes, fans, etc.) – troubleshooting, dismantling, reassembly.
Basic Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of multicraft maintenance experience within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
Proficient use of CMMS (Maximo) and other work‑order systems.
Proficient use of electronic devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops).
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Preferences
Associate’s degree or technical degree or certification in a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of multicraft maintenance experience within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.

Equity‑Based and Compensation
Actual compensation depends on education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $33.89 - $49.71 per hour. Full‑time employees will be eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, flexible benefits, life insurance, leave of absence, and wellness benefits.
