
Aviation Teacher / Flight Instructor - Part Time

Position Summary
Oxbridge Academy, a non‑profit, independent grade 6-12 school in West Palm Beach, Florida, seeks to hire a full‑time, experienced Flight Simulator Teacher. The employee is responsible for instructing aviation students using Oxbridge’s flight simulator while understanding and adhering to the Mission, Vision, Core Values, Employee Handbook, and other school policies of Oxbridge Academy. Faculty create and manage a variety of learning environments that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct simulator phase of pilot flight instruction in compliance with course policies, procedures, and techniques.
Give detailed briefings on all phases of flight simulator training.
Determine and report on student progress and proficiency.
Provide specialized instruction and counseling of students.
Make suggestions through appropriate channels to enhance safety and efficiency.
Assist in program development for all phases of flight instruction as directed by the aviation program, including lessons with small groups covering essential topics.
Perform routine flight checks to the REDBird simulator and maintain contact with the servicing group to ensure top performance of the machine.
Be present at Oxbridge events such as open houses to promote the aviation program.
Work in tandem with current staff to deliver AOPA curriculum and FAA Knowledge test topics to all grade levels.
Prepare learning activities in an environment that fosters collaboration, inquiry, innovation, and personal discovery.
Adapt and differentiate teaching methods and instructional material to meet students’ varying needs, abilities, and interests.
Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate within the department, school community, and greater community on multidisciplinary projects and initiatives.
Maintain accurate and complete student records in the current student information system as required by law, policies, and administrative regulations.
Observe students in a variety of educational environments and evaluate their academic performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior, cultivating Oxbridge’s core values of kindness, courtesy, integrity, respect, and compassion.
Advise a group of students and keep parents and legal guardians informed about students’ progress.
Pursue relevant professional development to maintain expertise in subject matter, curriculum development, and teaching methods.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Certified Flight Instructor.
Responsible for FAA test prep independent study for students.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate improved learning, habits, and measurements of achievement.
Classroom management skills required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.
Preferred Attributes
Prior experience teaching in an independent or private school, ideally within a mission‑driven educational community.
Interest in contributing to the school community beyond the classroom with a demonstrated ability to coach or mentor students in co‑curricular or extracurricular activities.
