Our talented staff of more than 650 professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions. Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Civil Design Engineer to assist with our projects in Detroit!
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed civil engineering designs for projects involving:
Civil site development
Roadways and pavements
Water, wastewater, and stormwater systems
Public and private infrastructure improvements
Develop plans, profiles, sections, and details using AutoCAD Civil 3D
Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, reports, cost estimates, and specifications
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams
Support permitting and regulatory coordination with municipal and state agencies
Review drawings and documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards
Respond to construction‑phase questions and assist with design clarifications
Participate in project meetings and maintain clear communication with internal teams
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
4–7 years of civil engineering experience with emphasis on:
Civil site development
Municipal infrastructure projects
Private development projects
AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is required
Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification preferred
Strong understanding of civil design principles and permitting processes
Experience working in a consulting engineering environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
