Location: Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission; Lafayette, LA
Department: Communications
Reports To: Vice President of Communications / Director of Media Relations
Status: Part-Time (15 Hours Per Week, Non-Exempt)
Compensation: Hourly ($10-$15)
Position Objectives
Assist LCVC’s Communications Team in promoting Lafayette Parish as a premier travel destination through content creation, digital marketing, media relations, and event support. This position provides hands‑on experience in tourism marketing and communications while supporting ongoing campaigns, initiatives, and projects that enhance Lafayette’s visibility and brand.

Primary Responsibilities
Content Development & Digital Marketing
Assist in creating and updating content for LafayetteWeekly.com, including live music, festivals, and community events
Support development of content for weekly and monthly newsletters
Assist with website updates and blog content as needed
Media Relations
Assist with preparation for visiting media, travel writers, and journalists
Support coordination of media itineraries and hosting logistics
Help maintain media contact lists and coverage tracking
Administrative & General Support
Assist with data entry and project coordination across communications initiatives
Attend staff meetings and participate in department planning sessions
Assist with all other communications‑related duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Strong interest in tourism, hospitality, or destination marketing
Core competencies should include Organization, Time Management, Creativity, Written Communication, Initiative, and Adaptability
General Requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills
Self‑motivated with willingness to learn and take initiative
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with digital databases
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to walk, bend, reach, stand for extended periods of time (receptions/events), and sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds. Must be able to speak clearly and hear well when communicating over the telephone and in person.
