Professional Engineer 1 – Roadway Engineer

Role Summary
Join our team in Bend! As a roadway engineer you will oversee the design of the roadway portion of contract plans, ensuring continuity for transportation project plans ranging from low to highly complex. You will make engineering decisions, compile technical reports and design plans, specifications, and estimates.
A Day In The Life
Design and prepare plans, specifications and estimates for projects and ensure compliance with standards, policies, laws and guidelines.
Develop detailed digital terrain models and provide grade reports.
Prepare eBids and construction handoff packages.
Mentor and review work of junior engineers.
Provide technical and procedural support on project development and delivery issues.
Provide support to construction staff on design and other project issues.
Participate in scoping projects and prepare documents.
Hybrid work options available – requires working in the office a few times per month.
Requires working after hours, overnight travel and working near heavy traffic, construction equipment and on uneven ground surfaces.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Civil Engineering (CE) license in the State of Oregon OR ability to obtain license within six months of hire.
If registered in another state, must obtain a temporary permit to practice engineering within six months from hire.
Special Qualifications
Driving is an essential function. Must have a valid US driver license and acceptable driving record. License does not need to be issued in Oregon.
What We’d Like To See
Knowledge and experience in roadway engineering principles and design methods while working on multidisciplinary design teams.
Experience with 3D modeling, including creating alignments and surfaces, using computer software.
Experience developing roadway plans, specifications and cost estimates.
Demonstrated ability to lead and interact with various internal and external partner groups with different priorities.
