Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Harvard, IL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Hourly Pay: $27.85 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
Schedule: Monday–Friday; weekends off
Hours: Second shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
Basic tools required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.)
Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in this area is preferred
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A is preferred
Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
Must pass a Ryder drug test, a DOT physical, a Ryder road test, and a Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor‑vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
Perform preventive maintenance
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing a diagnostic computer when applicable
Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
Replace defective components as instructed
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned
Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support
