Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Harvard, IL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about.

Hourly Pay: $27.85 per hour

Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays you up to $500 every quarter - four times per year

Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off

Hours: Second shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) required

Two or more years of classroom training and work experience preferred

Valid commercial driver license (Class A) preferred

This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee you must:

Be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test

Pass a DOT physical

Pass a Ryder road test

Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Perform standard vehicle maintenance

Perform standard component inspections and repairs

Perform preventive maintenance

Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable

Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required

Replace defective components as instructed

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available

Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)

Perform other support duties as required to support operations, e.g., service island support
