
Financial Reporting Accountant

Job Description
Role overview:
This person will support the financial reporting team by preparing and maintaining journal entries and supporting schedules related to financial statement reporting. The role focuses on ensuring financial data is accurate, complete, and properly supported for official financial reporting, including lease‑related and accrual‑based activity.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
prepare and post financial reporting‑related journal entries across all organizational charts
support annual financial statement preparation efforts within the controller’s office
assist with lease accounting activities, including lease‑related journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting schedules
maintain and update lease reporting tabs and supporting documentation
prepare supporting schedules and notes for financial statements
calculate, record, and reconcile accruals including interest receivable and bad debt
ensure accounting practices align with applicable GASB standards
perform Excel‑based reporting and analysis using pivot tables, vlookups, and formulas
collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Skills and Requirements
3–5 years general accounting experience
bachelor’s degree in accounting
experience creating journal entries across multiple accounts
advanced Excel skills (vlookups, pivots, formulas)
experience with accruals (interest receivable, bad debt)
experience with leasing‑related journal entries and accruals
government accounting background
debt book experience
