Accounting Supervisor
LHH, San Ramon, CA, United States
Overview
Employment Type: Permanent / Direct-Hire
Job Location Type: Onsite
This award-winning organization in the San Francisco Bay Area is actively interviewing for an Accounting Supervisor to lead operations as a true business partner. You will be close to the action, supported by leadership that values clean financials, smart controls, and practical insights. If you are an experienced Accounting Leader who’s ready to mentor others and level up into management track, this is the kind of challenge that keeps your work interesting.
You will join a design and operations-focused, multi-entity environment where project costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and cash flow timing matter every day. The Accounting Supervisor will report to an experienced, tenured Controller and will become the day-to-day owner of close discipline, reconciliations, and core accounting operations — all while guiding AP and AR workflows and partnering closely with project and operations teams.
Outside of work, the Accounting Supervisor gets the best of Northern California living without giving up career momentum. Think weekend access to coastline, hiking, biking, and redwood escapes, plus major sports, live entertainment, and a standout food scene. Add strong educational options and a deep professional network that supports CPA growth and long-term career mobility, and the Accounting Supervisor relocation story sells itself.
Primary Responsibilities
Drive month-end and year-end close with strong ownership of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Lead full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable execution, including accurate coding, timely processing, and control-minded reviews
Maintain clean job cost accounting and general ledger integrity so project financials tell the real story
Support WIP schedules and help explain overbilling and underbilling so project teams can make better decisions
Analyze gross margin movement and translate variances into plain-English insights for management
Coordinate audit-ready support, strengthen documentation, and reinforce U.S. GAAP discipline in a Construction setting
Handle sales and use tax filings across multiple states and support project-related tax needs
Improve processes, mentor developing talent, and raise the bar on accuracy, timeliness, and internal controls
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with CPA progress or credential welcomed
Approximately 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally blending general ledger work with AP and AR leadership
Construction accounting fluency across job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition, with the ability to partner effectively with operations
Strong month-end close habits, reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, and a sharp eye for detail
Systems comfort with tools commonly used in Construction accounting environments, and an interest in improving workflows as the business scales
Exposure to multi-entity or multi-state operations is a plus, along with familiarity with payroll practices
