Job Overview
Insight Contracting is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role requires expertise in at least two of the following specialties: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, general carpentry, and/or appliances. We handle commercial and residential maintenance for construction developments, and the ideal candidate will have a solid background in these areas and be comfortable working independently.
As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing systems and structures, troubleshooting work orders, and ensuring everything runs smoothly in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs : Diagnose and repair issues in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, exterior structural, and appliances.
Work Orders : Troubleshoot work orders with tenants over the phone and in-person to address maintenance needs.
Emergency Services : Provide on-call emergency maintenance services as defined by our Emergency Maintenance Standards, including weekends and after-hours.
Snow Duty : During winter, assist with snow removal (shoveling, plowing, ice-melt application) to maintain property safety.
Inventory Management : Keep the company storage and vehicles organized, ensuring tools and supplies are readily available.
Budget Control : Help with purchasing maintenance supplies, ensuring adherence to the planned budget.
Training & Development : Identify areas where training could improve performance and communicate these opportunities to your supervisor.
Safety & PPE : Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, and ensure safety protocols are followed for all maintenance tasks.
Record Keeping : Maintain accurate records of work completed using our service-tracking app.
Tracking Protocols : Adhere to and actively promote company tracking protocols and procedures, including using data for billing confirmation, emergency response optimization, safe-driving habits, and recording driving data in case of an incident.
Collaboration : Communicate effectively with management, tenants, and fellow technicians to ensure timely and quality service.
Other Duties : Perform additional tasks as assigned to support overall property maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
Driver’s License : Valid driver’s license and corporate-insurable driving record.
Skills : General experience with hand tools, power tools, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
Experience : 2+ years in two or more of the following areas: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, or
appliances
(preferred).
Knowledge : A solid understanding of construction industry safety standards and general maintenance practices.
Physical Requirements : Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.), use small to large tools, and visually assess maintenance needs.
Additional Considerations
Environment : Must be comfortable working in diverse conditions, including cold and hot environments, with exposure to outdoor weather.
Flexibility : Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends, and be available for on-call emergency service.
