
Medical Staff/Credentialing Coordinator - Full Time

Responsibilities
Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for coordinating medical staff activities providing oversight for credentialing and privileging and is responsible for timely and accurate processing of applications and related documents. Supports medical staff meetings, communications, and assists with regulatory requirements for assigned functions including:
Establishes and maintains positive, courteous, and cooperative professional communications with the Medical Staff, Administration, hospital departments, and related health agencies.
Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
Prepares for medical staff meetings (as requested), including scheduling, meeting reminders, agenda packets, documentation of proceedings, transcribing meeting minutes, maintenance of records and follow up on action items which are tracked to completion.
Assists with analyzing and assessing verified information and data on both initial applications and reappointments, to ensure appropriate qualifications and current clinical competence is met.
Assists medical staff leaders in completing their reviews and approval process.
Requests and tracks receipt of facility specific supplemental forms as part of the credentialing process and for regulatory compliance.
Maintains current confidential and peer review files on all medical staff and allied health members.
Maintains current Medical Staff rosters and other rosters and spreadsheets.
Manages the expirables process to ensure all licenses/certifications, malpractice insurance and other expirable items for medical staff members remain current.
Provides clerical oversight related to the filing maintenance and retrieval information relevant to all aspects of the responsibilities.
Onboards all new medical staff and allied health providers using a checklist to review appropriate medical staff expectations.
Manages timely oversight and compliance on Provisional members proctoring requirements, and for additional privileges granted.
Enters call panel schedules on a monthly basis and updates with changes as needed.
Coordinates work related medical education opportunities for physicians as requested.
Assists the Director in other department functions, as requested.
Education
High school graduate; some college coursework required – Associate’s Degree preferable.
Certifications / Licenses
Certified or working toward certification as Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).
Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare setting with active current knowledge of the healthcare environment.
Skilled professional communicator, including electronic and telephone communication.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Knowledge of computer operations/usage (data entry and word processing).
Knowledge of use of fax machine, digital camera, copier, calculator, telephone.
Ability to maintain and organize files and records.
