
Maintenance Worker - Parrish

Responsibilities
Perform light construction duties (drywall, painting, light fixture installation, drain and sewer line stoppages, cabinet installation and repair, vinyl and ceramic tile installation and repair, window air‑conditioner installation and maintenance) using power tools such as hand drills and saws.
Operate basic building systems including boilers, heating systems, fire prevention and alarm systems.
Clean facility areas (floors, walls, kitchens, bathrooms, common areas) and thoroughly clean residential units (stoves, refrigerators, painting, plastering) in preparation for new clients.
Perform general maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and batteries in smoke and carbon dioxide detectors.
Move, load, unload, and transport furniture, equipment, tools, and supplies; assemble and install furniture and equipment.
Provide temporary site coverage at other Safe Horizon locations within the five boroughs on short notice.
Learn and apply a trauma‑informed, client‑centered, anti‑oppressive approach in work with clients.
Qualifications
Certificate or certification in a building trade, maintenance, building systems, or building equipment repair.
Ability to lift and move 50 lbs daily.
Valid New York State driver’s license with no suspensions and fewer than 3 points.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Experience working in a supportive housing setting preferred.
Computer proficiencies desired.
High school diploma or equivalent (or equivalent experience).

Compensation & Benefits
Hiring Range: $23.08 – $25.38 hourly
Full‑time hours: 35 per week
