Job Title
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocation effectively.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks.
Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on repair orders (RO) using the company-issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely manner.
Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity, working within or close to standard repair times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Maintain the company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre/post-trip inspections.
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field; alternatively, a higher degree/certification and 5 years of experience may qualify.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
Must successfully complete a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining; a DOT physical is required if less than four months remain.
Be at least 21 years old.
Hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Class C driver's license required.

Compensation
Hourly pay rate: $26.73 – $40.10 per hour. The base rate may vary based on location and qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission and/or incentive program.
