BOP Technician, Chillingham Solar/Storage Facility

What You Can Expect
As the Balance of Plant (BOP) Technician located in Rogers, TX you will serve as the primary BOP relay technician for the plant installing, maintaining, testing, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing relay and control equipment in the electrical substation. Your responsibilities include working with electromechanical, solid‑state, and microprocessor protective relays, instrument transformers, KWH/KW meters, and controls for all substation equipment (breakers, transformers, regulators, capacitors, reactors) and remote control equipment such as SCADA.

Become a leader in safety, upholding safety as a core value

Actively participate in the behavior‑based safety program and ensure every team member and contractor complies with all safety procedures and applicable task‑oriented job safety analyses

Ensure site safety rules are communicated and adhered to through Site Specific Orientations, JSAs and Tailboard Meetings

Demonstrate procedural compliance in all site operation and maintenance activities by utilizing established procedures

Facilitate and implement all daily work as the on‑site BOP Tech, including coordinating with service providers and contractors and producing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports

Operate site equipment, both directly and remotely

Monitor site performance

Coordinate switching and curtailments with relevant local utilities and ISOs

Ensure site equipment is kept at the highest possible standard maximizing availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability

Demonstrate work planning skills, activity scheduling, and follow up to assure work conformance

Perform routine inspections – safely using tools (e.g., multimeter and IR camera)

Manage contractors, ensuring quality work, completed safely and promptly

Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to others’ ideas and viewpoints, earning trust, and resolving conflict situations

What You’ll Bring

A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related discipline from an accredited university, or a 2‑year associate or technical degree from a technical school in electronics or a related field with four (4) years of related work experience. A combination of education, work experience, or military services may be considered in lieu of a degree

A minimum of 4 years of experience in an industrial MV/HV voltage application

Knowledge to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain substation equipment such as electrical control circuits, transformers, high‑voltage breakers, and collection lines

Proficiency in accessing substation relay log files and monitoring systems

Ability to put together lock‑out‑tag‑out (LOTO) procedures for substations, transformers, electrical switches, transmission lines, and collector lines

Additional Details

This is a field position requiring daily travel to client site(s)

Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages

Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a clean driving record to drive a company vehicle on and around the plant

Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s COVID‑vaccination and testing policy

Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

The position consists of 30% indoors and 70% outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions

Compensation
Salary Range:

$32.40 – $43.18 USD per hour. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan and emergency or on‑call pay.
