
Equipment Operator - ULM

Under direct supervision, operates various construction equipment and tools to construct, repair, and maintain the Town's water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
Examples of Duties
Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, trenchers, dump trucks, skid steers, and sewer‑cleaning vehicles; uses hand and power tools as needed.
Cleans, repairs, and maintains utility lines and services, including excavation of trenches and ditches for main and service line installation.
Conducts daily inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation and safety standards.
Performs sewer line cleaning, loading and unloading of materials, and other maintenance or construction tasks.
Works safely in and around high‑traffic areas, medians, and rights‑of‑way.
Trains employees in equipment operation, maintenance, and safety techniques.
Identifies potential hazards, liability exposures, and public inquiries, reporting findings to the supervisor.
Assists with utility maintenance duties and supports other departments as needed.
Adheres to Town, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
Must have a valid state‑issued driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class “A” Commercial Driver's License, with proper endorsements and without restrictions, within six (6) months from the date of hire. Your driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
One (1) year of experience in utility maintenance and/or equipment operation, to include backhoes, excavators, front loaders, and sewer line flushing trucks, is required.
