Senior Clerk

Responsible for general clerical, cashiering, reception, and electronic file maintenance at the Hendry & Glades Counties Health Department (CHD). The position floats between LaBelle, Clewiston, and Moore Haven as needed and maintains confidentiality and privacy standards in accordance with state and local policy.
Responsibilities

Operate the front desk: answer phones, direct calls and messages, greet visitors, and provide interpretive assistance as needed.
Provide cashier services: process super bills, collect past‑due fees, review client balances in the Health Management System (HMS), and identify payment sources (cash, Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, etc.).
Manage email, organize meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and assist with scheduling for clinics and programs.
Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and mandatory DoH training courses.
Scan, key, sort, and file medical documents for storage or archiving; ensure all hard copies are uploaded to HMS.
Assist in processing medical record releases, reviewing for completeness, and handling requests for record copies.
Support the cashier in maintaining confidential records, lab and medical information filing, and inventory control of state and local forms.
Act as backup for scheduling and coordination of professional staff clinics and serve as a clerical liaison with medical staff.
Perform mail and courier duties, including processing outgoing and incoming U.S. mail and packages.
Qualifications

Experience in handling cash payments and balancing a cash drawer.
High school diploma or equivalent GED.
Fluency in both English and Spanish (verbal and written).
