Assistant Controller
StaffBuffalo is proud to partner with a privately held, established manufacturing organization in Buffalo, NY to hire a hands‑on and strategic Assistant Controller, offering $85,000–$90,000 annually plus bonus potential.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Controller who enjoys operating at both a strategic and operational level. The Assistant Controller will work directly alongside the President and senior leadership team, providing financial insight that drives business decisions while also overseeing the daily accounting functions that keep the organization running smoothly.
The Assistant Controller will play a key leadership role within the accounting department, managing multiple entities while strengthening financial processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment, values accountability and structure, and is confident balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on execution in a manufacturing setting.
This is a full‑time, in‑person position in Lancaster, NY.
Responsibilities
Partner directly with the President and leadership team to provide financial reporting, analysis, and strategic guidance
Manage accounting operations and financial records across four affiliated companies
Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparation and review of financial statements
Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Order Processing, and Payroll functions
Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Ensure State and Federal compliance reporting and maintain strong internal controls
Serve as primary liaison with external partners including legal, banking, insurance, and accounting firms
Support product pricing analysis and lead hiring, training, and development of accounting staff
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with recent management responsibility
Strong knowledge of GAAP and core business accounting processes
Manufacturing experience preferred
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
Confident leader who can balance oversight with hands‑on execution
