Supervisor, Production

Location: Ithaca, NY.

Shift: Off‑shift (2nd or 3rd).

Job Purpose
The Production Supervisor is responsible for effectively supervising employees in a designated area of manufacturing to ensure a safe work environment, meet production deadlines, and attain established goals in the areas of production quality, delivery, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure a safe work environment.

Support and drive the lean manufacturing system; assign work; recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, employee relations, and working conditions.

Oversee all departmental activities and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable laws.

Resolve employee issues, ensure positive employee relations, and promote and enforce all company policies fairly and consistently.

Manage area performance measures and individual employee work performance; provide coaching and direction to employees; and work with the manufacturing manager to identify development and/or training needs.

Responsible for communication at all levels.

Salary and Benefits

Salary ranges from $70,000 – $90,000 based on experience.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in a manufacturing related position.

Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred; automotive industry experience preferred.

Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift.

Strong technical skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing processes/procedures.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with proven safety or quality programs (e.g., Kaizen) a plus.

Knowledge of measuring devices such as micrometers, height stands, calipers.

Safety Responsibilities
Enforce the Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy; use required protective equipment; prevent accidents and illnesses; report all injuries and possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
