Position Overview
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting business and financial operations, including data entry, billing, material purchasing, and accurately applying and posting cash receipts to respective customer accounts.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)
Provide a full range of support to process commodities and invoices ensuring accurate data.
Process plant production, transfer point of sale tickets and work with plant to reconcile discrepancies.
Review submitted lien waivers for accuracy, work with the customer on any changes to lien waivers, and work with the credit department on signatures and notaries.
General customer service support in resolving invoice and collection issues via phone or email, ensuring accurate accounting records.
Administer accounts receivable invoicing and other related clerical functions.
Monitor expiring Certificates of Insurance and request updated insurance.
Assist with indexing material sales, as well as scanning documents in record retention database.
Assist with accounting department, miscellaneous data entry, administrative office tasks and back up functions as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
1-2 years relevant experience in accounting and job costing preferred.
Experience in a construction environment is preferred.
Work Requirements
Must be 18 years old or older.
Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee and Safety Policy Manuals/Handbooks.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with Management.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data entry and 10‑key.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently, without constant supervision, and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
Ability to provide great customer service and display a professional and courteous attitude.
Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and percentages.
Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, copiers, ten key adding machine, printers, etc.
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, heard and lift and/or move up to 5 lbs.
Regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to manipulate/handle objects.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch, life and or/move up to 10 lbs.
Able to communicate with others by telephone and in‑person.
Able to utilize office equipment including a computer for word processing, email communication and preparation of documents and presentations.
May require sitting for extended periods of time.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate and is typical of an office setting.
