Investment Banking Analyst I - Advisory

Overview

Citizens is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Analyst to join the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) division of our Capital Markets & Advisory team (CM&A). This role is based in our Richmond office and supports Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents, and Associates in developing and pitching strategic and financial solutions to corporate clients and financial sponsors. Analysts work directly with senior deal professionals to execute all facets of prospective and active client engagements, gaining broad exposure across transactions from pitch through closing.
Responsibilities

Participate in all phases of the transaction lifecycle, from pitch and origination through execution and closing
Prepare pitch materials and update presentation decks for prospective and existing client meetings
Prepare detailed transaction marketing materials, including confidential information memoranda (CIMs) and management presentations
Perform extensive financial modeling and valuation analysis, including analysis of deal structures and transaction alternatives
Manage due diligence workstreams, including populating, organizing, and administering virtual data rooms
Directly liaise with clients’ C-suite and senior management teams to prepare marketing materials and respond to diligence and information requests
Conduct comprehensive company and industry research, and develop analytical materials and perspectives for internal and client use
Analyze financial model outputs and client information to formulate conclusions and recommendations for discussion with deal teams and clients
Research financial and strategic buyers and support outreach and engagement with potential counterparties
Participate in client meetings and, as appropriate, meetings with prospective buyers and investors
Qualifications, Education, And Experience

1–2 years of direct experience in Investment Banking, M&A, or Capital Markets, with proven client interaction; or 2–4 years of relevant experience in public accounting (e.g., Big 4)
Bachelor’s degree required; exceptional academic performance with relevant coursework in finance and accounting preferred
Attendance in a formal investment banking or corporate banking training program preferred, but not required
Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, with a strong understanding of financial statements, financial modeling, valuation, and company or industry analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express ideas in a clear, persuasive, and organized manner
Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment
Self-starting, team-oriented professional who can work independently and collaboratively in a flat organization
High degree of maturity, professionalism, and integrity, with strong attention to detail and a positive, hardworking attitude
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Experience with financial data and research platforms such as S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, PitchBook, or similar tools

Hours per Week: 40+
